Movie Review - The Pursuit of Happyness

Have you ever had one of those days where you wonder if there is anything else that can go wrong? Maybe you just want to feel a bit sorry for yourself or maybe just have a bit of a cry.

On these days perhaps you don't want to read, you just want to sit in front of the TV and do nothing.  But you also need to know that things are going to get better.

One of my favourite movies to watch is the overcoming is all "In Pursuit of Happyness". I have to admit though that it is a serious tear jerker.  In one scene Chris Gardner, played by Will Smith has to run for the bus in order to make the Shelter on time. In this, his son drops a toy and there is no time to go back. Going back for this toy could result in them missing the cut off on the shelter and having to sleep on the streets.

This and the bathroom scene just makes me want to tear up all over again.  As parents, we want so much for our children.  We feel their pain like a knife wrenching through our soul.

This is where you wonder if the choices that you are making are the correct ones. If maybe just getting a job is the best answer.  If maybe you are a terrible parent for not providing properly for your kids when other kids seem to have better lives than yours.  It is when all your well-meaning friends and relative comments can start to erode into your sense of self-worth and when the worms of doubt begin to eat at your dreams.

Chris Gardner unpaid internship in this movie is the driving point to a better life. But to get this, he has to go through unbearable hardships and in order to keep his son with him, his son endures them as well.

If you do not know who Chris Gardner is, he is an American businessman, investor, stockbroker, motivational speaker, author, and philanthropist who, during the early 1980s, struggled with homelessness while raising his toddler son, Christopher Gardner Jr.

According to www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-businessmen/wall-street/christopher-gardner-net-worth/, Chris Gardner is worth $ 60 million.

At the end of the movie, you realize that some dreams are worth fighting for. It is no small wonder that this is an Academy Award-winning movie.
